Why Hire a Health Coach?
Hello and welcome! My name is Danielle and I am a Wellness Coach - or you could call me a health coach, holistic coach, life coach, health guide, and so on, but it comes down to the same thing: I help people achieve a happy and healthy lifestyle based on their individual needs.
So why hire a health coach? And do you even need one? Below are a few examples of what a health coach does and why someone would work with a coach.
You, or someone you know, may have been to the doctor and he/she tells you that you need to change your lifestyle because your health is not in a good place. However, what the doctor doesn’t do is take the time to look at your lifestyle and work with you to create a plan to actually help you make change. So now you leave the doctor's office with a pamphlet and a whole lot of confusion, added stress and feelings of fear. This is where a health coach comes in. A health coach will work directly with you, looking at all areas of your life, and guiding you through the process of meeting your goals. A coach keeps you accountable and provides additional resources to help you through this process. Then next thing you know, not only is your overall health improving, but your life is transforming.
The “Too Busy” Excuse
This is the biggest excuse in the book: I’m too busy. So things like exercise, cooking at home, sleeping, meditating, and relationships are shoved to the side when we think we don’t have time for them. A health coach will help you organize your lifestyle. They will work with you to find time to add exercise, give you tips for easy and healthy recipes so you aren’t always running through the drive thru, provide you guidance in de-stressing your already too busy stressed out life, and more.
A very popular reason for a health coach is weight loss. Maybe you’ve tried exercise, cutting out sugar and adding more steps to your day, but you can’t manage to keep the weight off. A health coach will work with you to analyze your lifestyle, look at other areas that may be affecting your weight, and create attainable goals to get you to that happy weight.
This means there is no one diet or lifestyle that is going to work for everyone. A health coach works with your unique traits, looking at how you respond to things, such as food, stress and relationships. And from there creates a plan that is completely custom to your needs.
